Dishes from the Past (Dishes) is a Texas based retail company that specializes in discontinued china, pottery, and crystal by hundreds of major manufacturers including Lenox, Royal Doulton, Noritake, and Wedgwood. Working out of their 6,000 sq. ft. store in Dallas, Dishes takes orders for products and ships rare and antique dishware around the country. The Solution Associates, Inc. (TSA), partnering with SavvyDog Design, created a beautiful website to show off their china and crystal. By connecting the web site to their accounting system, they are able to receive orders without additional labor costs and time delays related to a transfer and import process. It has enabled them to automatically update the quickly changing inventory to insure that products displayed on the website are actually available for sale. TSA also added a “Mix and Match” page which allows Dishes to create unique combinations of complementary china from different patterns and display them for sale on the site. Another innovation developed by TSA is the Bridal Registry, which supports a special marketing niche for Dishes. Internal management programs and forms allow the Dishes’ personnel to manage their site on their own thus reducing the ongoing costs of updating and maintaining a web site.
